Dwain Chambers has recorded the fastest legal 100m time by a Brit in the last 9 years. But due to his lifetime ban as a result of performance enhancing drug-use in the past, Chambers might not be able to compete in the Beijing Olympics. James O'Brien urges us to stop being so stiff upper lipped and "British", and let Chambers run if we want any realistic hope of bringing back some silverware!

I TOTALLY disagree with you James. As ever, you present a good argument (apart from the Mockney Australian accent!) but for me drugs in sport is a curse and needs to be stamped out by making an example of those who succumb to the easy route to the winners podium. It has absolutely nothing to do with being British -- the Yanks do it as do most other sporting nations around the world. Chambers was born with a gift. He has abused that gift and dragged the world of athletics and sport down through his illegal cheating ways. He does deserve a lifetime ban because who's to say he's not using drugs right now?
