James McGrath has just resigned over comments made in The Voice. Do you think his comments were racist and should he have resigned?

Firstly mentioning the "race card" in respect to this incident should not be make someone morally suspect. The race/religion card is played frequently and this issue shows just how effective it is when politicians will now have their staff resigning over comments that could be potentially construed as suspect by someone sometime maybe.Compare and contrast Ken Livingstone, who told two Indian born Jewish businessmen of Iraqi descent to “go back to Iran and try their luck with the ayatollahs”, in the context of a business dispute. There was no apology, and no resignation, and Livingstone’s supporters fell over themselves to explain how their man was no racist. If a politician is white and less left wing than Karl marx he is an easy target for left wing/liberal politicians and activists and of course the hand wringing lefty liberal media.Accusations of a "hater" thought crime are damaging enough to be suffient to stifle an argument or end a career, and it is an easy weapon to wield and impossible to defend against so political expediency dictates preemtive sword falling. As for racist hypocrisy you need look no futher than Darcus howe, i'm sure if he decided leave the country not many would be sorry.

No James McGraith did not make a racist comment. He was merely expressing an opinion, which is his right to do in address any issue. The race card is overused, and should not be given validation in every debate. Luci. Surrey
