Hello Im James OBrien, I present the mid-morning show on LBC 97.3. Few stories have affected me more than the tragic saga that unfolded in Wigan last week... Jordan Lyon died having jumped into a pond saving his drowning sister...at which point two community support officers did precisely nothing...

PCSOs are like fake rolex watches. A copy of the real thing, but with less power, and frankly quite shit.

One day, driving back from University some idiot from Harrow reversed into my car, while stationary at traffic lights, i might add!(he said i hit his car, even though i was at least five foot away from him) In anger I ran over and opened his car door, but before anything happened two PCSOs rushed over, having seen what he had done, and they actually handled the situation very well. They also gave me their names and numbers and said they would be happy to be witnesses. The guy in the car in front was demoralised! : )

It would appear that you are a truly uneducated gentleman! the comments you have made i feel are offensive to say the least, whilst being a parent i understand the frustration of the childs parents, why oh why were they unsupervised? dont pass the guilt over their sons tragic death to the pcso's because of their bad parenting skills. In our area the pcso's have done a fabulous job dealing with nusiance youths, doing school talks and victim visits. As for the lack of power blame the HOME OFFICE not the pcso's.Each "proper policeman" that i have met has been positive about their pcso, and without them peoples lives would be a lot more miserable. Because police officers dont have the time to do house to house, deal with nusiance youths drinking in parks and abusive neighbours that the pcso will deal with. Your rant i feel was a worthless use of oxygen and i would always rather have a pcso turn up than NOBODY!! which seems to be the case these days. I for one will stand up for the role of PCSO,but as with every role in life you will get good and bad ones,so i say dont tar them all with the same brush!! I will no longer listen to your show fool! I really get annoyed reading newspaper articles or listening to radio shows where people spout off complete nonsense. I believe that anyone with an uneducated (in that particular issue) opinion should have some kind of disclaimer under their name or mentioned before they speak “ this is the opinion of a reporter who knows little about this issue, he/she has read another article and spoken to a couple of cab drivers, their opinion should not be taken seriously, you should investigate this issue yourself and make up your own balanced and educated opinion! .” What have you done for your community James?? PCSOs are the best thing to happen to this country for years!

I saw a disturbance at a tube station involving a single drunk man. The tube staff were refusing to let him through the barrier into the station due to his inebriated state. The staff made a call and two PCSOs quickly turned up. They made a feeble attempt to ask the drunk to leave, but were met with the response "F*** off"! So what did the PCSOs then do? They called the police!

James -- tragic as it is, how do you think the PCSOs feel about witnessing a kid drowning? In today's society every one in public service is handcuffed (sorry wrong phrase!) by the bloody health and safety nazis. So what choice did the PCSOs have?
